Sports Day 2025: Celebrating Health, Fitness, and Team Spirit

The Annual Sports Day of Tyros School 2025 was held in October at the beautiful Fitnation Sports Hub, Piravom â€” a venue that brought an exciting change to the event’s spirit and atmosphere. For the first time, Tyros hosted its sports day not on its regular school ground, but on a professional synthetic turf, offering students a whole new level of exposure and experience in the world of sports.

This decision wasn’t just about the venue. It was a conscious step toward giving children the kind of environment that encourages them to dream bigger and play better. In today’s world, where technology often dominates children’s time, such settings help them rediscover the joy of movement, teamwork, and healthy competition. Competing on a proper turf field doesn’t just improve their performance — it builds confidence, discipline, and respect for professional sporting standards. Experiences like these help children understand that sports are not only about winning medals but also about pushing their limits, working as a team, and learning from every effort made.

The day began on a cheerful note with Suzanne and her mother, the granddaughter and daughter-in-law of Tyros’ founder Shini Mathoor, setting the tone for the event by ceremoniously kicking the first ball on the turf. This symbolic moment marked the start of a day filled with enthusiasm, laughter, and energy.

Soon after, the students, dressed smartly in their four vibrant house colours, marched in with grace and pride. Their house leaders led the parade, proudly carrying their flags as the crowd cheered them on. The sight of young Tyrosians moving in unison, full of spirit and discipline, was nothing short of inspiring.

The event continued with a keynote address from Mrs. Shini Mathoor, the visionary founder of Tyros School. She urged the children to focus on having fun, cheering for their friends, and participating wholeheartedly in every event, instead of fixating only on winning. Her words reminded everyone that the true essence of sports lies in joy, effort, and togetherness — values that shape character far more than any trophy ever could.

Following her, Mr. Joby Paul, owner of Fitnation Sports Hub and a three-time Ironman of India, delivered an inspiring speech about the importance of fitness in everyday life. He spoke about how staying active not only improves physical health but also sharpens the mind, builds discipline, and enhances focus — qualities that make students more efficient in academics and life. Sharing his journey as an Ironman, he explained what the title stands for — a multi-event sporting contest demanding stamina, in particular a consecutive triathlon of swimming, cycling, and running.

As the games began, the turf came alive with excitement. The students participated in a variety of events — from track races and relays to penalty shootouts and team games â€” showcasing outstanding sportsmanship throughout. There were moments of thrill, joy, and friendly rivalry.

We also had the parents of the students, teachers, and the school staff participate in a sprint, emphasizing that good health and fitness at any age is priceless in the way that it will let us show up in many ways for the ones we dearly love. It’s never too late for anyone to pick up a sport or exercise and take care of themselves.

By the end of the day, every participant walked away with something more than medals — memories, friendships, and lessons that last a lifetime. The 2025 Sports Day wasn’t just another event; it was a celebration of growth, courage, and the Tyros spirit.

As the sun set on the lush green turf of Fitnation Sports Hub, one thing was clear — Tyros had not only changed its venue this year but had also raised the bar for what school sports can truly mean for a child’s all-round development.
