At Tyros School, we believe that curiosity is the spark that fuels lifelong learning. Every experience outside the classroom is an opportunity for children to connect with the world, ask questions, and discover new perspectives. On September 26, our students and teachers embarked on another exciting journey—this time to Science City in Kottayam, a place designed to make science come alive for young minds.
The day started with cheerful energy as students boarded the buses. The ride was filled with songs, games, and laughter, setting the tone for what was to be a day of fun and exploration. For many children, these shared moments of travel are just as memorable as the destination itself, building bonds and creating a sense of community.

Discovering Science in Action
Upon reaching Science City Kottayam, students stepped into a space that encourages hands-on learning. The centre has two interactive galleries filled with famous experiments. Highlights included the Curie Point, which demonstrates the effect of heat on magnetism, and the ever-fascinating Newton’s Cradle, showing the principles of motion and energy transfer.

What made these exhibits special was their interactive nature. Instead of simply reading about theories, students could touch, observe, and experiment for themselves. This direct engagement with science turned abstract concepts into exciting discoveries, sparking endless “why” and “how” questions. Teachers guided students through the galleries, encouraging them to connect what they saw with lessons learned in class.

The 3D Experience: A Journey Across Worlds
A major highlight of the trip was the 3D movie experience, which combined storytelling with powerful visuals to teach students about the environment and the universe.
- Underwater World: The film transported students below the ocean’s surface, showing vibrant marine life. They learned how harmful practices like intensive fishing threaten this delicate ecosystem.
- Into the Forest: From scenes of happy animals in thriving forests to the impact of deforestation, we saw how human activity can quickly change natural habitats.
- Exploring Space: The journey then took them beyond Earth, into the solar system and faraway stars such as Alpha Centauri, inspiring wonder about the universe we live in.
This immersive experience left a deep impression, teaching us that science is not just about experiments but about understanding life, nature, and the cosmos.

Lunch, Snacks, and Shared Memories
After exploring the galleries and enjoying the 3D show, everyone gathered for lunch within the Science City premises. Students chatted excitedly about their favourite exhibits and played in the park there for a brief bit. Later, the group packed up, returned to school, and ended the day with snacks before heading home—tired, happy, and full of memories.
Why Field Trips Matter at Tyros School
At Tyros School, we see field trips as a powerful extension of classroom learning. They provide students with:
- Hands-on exploration: Children learn best when they can see, touch, and experience concepts directly.
- A sense of wonder: Visiting places like Science City builds curiosity and motivates students to keep asking questions.
- Real-world connections: Lessons move from theory to practice, helping students understand the relevance of what they study.
- Lasting memories: Beyond academics, trips encourage teamwork, joy, and friendships that make school life more meaningful.
A Day to Remember
The visit to Science City, Kottayam, was more than just an outing. As our students returned home, they carried not only knowledge but also the joy of exploration, reminding us that learning is most powerful when it is lived and experienced.
