The Annual Sports Day of Tyros Kindergarten and Elementary School was a day filled with energy, excitement, and joy as students, teachers and staff came together to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship. It was held on 22nd November 2024 at the Cooperative Public School Ground.
The Chief Guests for the event were Kurian Mathoor and his baby daughter, Suzanne ⎻ the son and granddaughter of our founder Shini Mathoor. Mr. Mathoor delivered an inspiring keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of sports and athleticism in life. Suzanne charmed everyone as she inaugurated the event by releasing colourful balloons into the sky, marking the official start of the day.
The event began with an oath-taking ceremony, where students pledged to uphold the values of fair play and teamwork. This was followed by a vibrant flag parade led by the Head Prefect, house leaders, and other students. They marched in harmony, showcasing their discipline and unity. Aaron Kuriakose welcomed everyone with an enthusiastic speech, setting the tone for the day.

The sports events were the highlight of the day. Students participated in various competitions, including 50-meter sprints, obstacle races, relay races, and the ever-popular lemon-and-spoon race. Each event was filled with enthusiasm, determination, and loud cheers from the audience. The young athletes gave their best, supported by the encouragement of their friends and teachers.
The obstacle race brought moments of fun as children skillfully navigated through the challenges, while the relay races showcased excellent teamwork. The lemon-and-spoon race added a playful element, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd.
Snack Recess
After the thrilling events, everyone enjoyed a snack break to recharge. The atmosphere was lively as children shared snacks with friends and families mingled with one another. It was a perfect opportunity to relax and prepare for the next segment of the day.
Recognizing Achievements
The presentation ceremony was held to honour the winners of each event. Medals, certificates, and trophies were awarded by the school’s founder, Shini Mathoor, Kindergarten Regional Manager Ambily Iype, and Principal Rose Johny. They congratulated the young achievers and applauded the efforts of every participant. The ceremony emphasized that true success lies in participation and giving one’s best.
A Memorable Day
The Sports Day concluded by 3:00 pm, leaving everyone with tired but happy faces. It was a day that brought out the best in everyone and created memories to cherish. The event highlighted the school’s dedication to holistic education and the importance of physical activity in students’ lives.
